Whether you require a gravity-launched enclosed lifeboat, a free-fall lifeboat, a rescue boat, or a fast rescue craft (FRC), our procurement team identifies the right specification for your vessel, flag state, and trading area. We work with all major manufacturers and can supply lifeboats as a standalone service or as part of a full turnkey installation package.
Installation Assistance
Once your new lifeboat arrives at the shipyard or alongside the vessel, our experienced team provides hands-on installation assistance to ensure it is mounted, aligned, and integrated correctly with your deck structure and davit system. We coordinate with the shipyard, class surveyor, and flag state authority throughout the installation process, managing documentation, inspection hold points, and approval submissions on your behalf. Our technicians are familiar with the structural and regulatory requirements for lifeboat installation across all major classification societies, including DNV, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas, ClassNK, and ABS.
Commissioning
Following installation, Digital Marines conducts a thorough commissioning to verify that all operational functions meet SOLAS and manufacturer requirements. This includes testing of on-load and off-load release mechanisms, painter and retrieval systems, engine trials, hydrostatic release unit (HRU) checks, and full operational readiness verification. All commissioning activities are documented and submitted to the attending surveyor for class acceptance.
Load Testing
An integral part of the commissioning process and as required by SOLAS and class society rules for new installations. Digital Marines performs davit and launching appliance load testing to the required proof load in the presence of the attending surveyor. Our team carries out dynamic and static load tests using calibrated equipment, and issues full test reports and class-accepted certificates on completion.
